The Reality of Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s Friendship Amid Justin Baldoni Feud
Despite reports of tension between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively amid Lively’s legal dispute with Justin Baldoni, a source told E! News, “It’s not true.”
Rumors of a rift surfaced after the Daily Mail claimed Taylor had “taken a step back” from Blake due to being mentioned by her first name in Justin’s lawsuit filed on Jan. 16. The report suggested the Fortnight singer wanted to avoid getting further “tangled” in the legal battle surrounding It Ends With Us.
However, Taylor has consistently shown unwavering support for Blake. The two have been close friends since 2015 and continue to be seen together frequently, from the 2024 Super Bowl to New York City dinners and even the 2023 Renaissance concert film premiere in London.
Taylor has even woven Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ daughters into her music, featuring a voice note from their eldest in Reputation’s “Gorgeous” and name-dropping all three in folklore’s “betty.” The couple shares James, 10, Inez, 8, and Betty, 5—all referenced in the song—as well as their youngest, Olin, born in 2023.
In fact, when Taylor—now dating Travis Kelce—won Album of the Year for folklore in 2021, she credited Blake and Ryan as some of her most trusted listeners, saying that after her then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, they were “the second and third people that I play every new song that I write.”
Blake and Taylor’s friendship has also extended into creative collaborations. In 2021, Blake directed the music video for I Bet You Think About Me from Red (Taylor’s Version)—a milestone Taylor acknowledged when accepting Favorite Pop Album at the American Music Awards the following year, calling Blake her “beautiful, brilliant friend.”
Meanwhile, Blake and Ryan have been unwavering in their support of Taylor. Their entire family attended the Eras Tour together in New Orleans last year, and Blake made multiple appearances at shows throughout the tour.
Blake was so captivated by the experience that she wished the already three-hour concert was “47 hours long.”
As for Ryan, he couldn’t stop raving about it either.
“When I’m 95 years old and my wife and kids wheel me outside and into the sun so I can drink a sandwich, I’ll still be talking about seeing this show in New Orleans,” he joked in an October Instagram post. “I don’t understand the unimaginable work, care, talent, and discipline @taylorswift generates to create an experience like this because I’m not a scientist.”
When it comes to Blake and Taylor’s friendship—it’ll never go out of style. Keep reading to see how…
