Sabrina Carpenter may be Short n’ Sweet, but the pop sensation made a big impression at her first-ever GRAMMYs performance. Taking the stage early in the night, Carpenter delivered a glamorous live rendition of her chart-topping hits, "Espresso" and "Please Please Please."
She kicked off with a playful, jazz-infused version of "Espresso," donning a sparkling tuxedo-inspired ensemble while showing off her tap-dancing skills. As the performance unfolded, she seamlessly transitioned into "Please Please Please," bringing its signature country flair to the GRAMMYs stage. Finally, she circled back to "Espresso" for a high-energy, blue-hued finale.
The performance served as a victory lap for the song that dominated summer charts—earlier that evening, Carpenter took home the GRAMMY for Best Pop Solo Performance for "Espresso." Moments later, her album Short n’ Sweet earned Best Pop Vocal Album honors.
Carpenter’s first GRAMMY nominations came in a big way—she racked up six nods, including Record of the Year for "Espresso," Album of the Year for Short n’ Sweet, and Song of the Year for "Please Please Please." Most notably, she landed nominations in all four major categories (Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best New Artist), a rare feat achieved by only 13 artists before her.
A Meteoric Rise in Pop
Carpenter’s GRAMMY wins cement her place among today’s biggest stars, competing in stacked categories alongside Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Chappell Roan.
Her journey to pop stardom accelerated with the release of Short n’ Sweet in 2024. "Espresso" became her first Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hit, while "Please Please Please" soared to No. 1. She kept the momentum going with "Taste," which debuted at No. 2, making her the first solo artist since The Beatles in 1964 to chart her first three Top 5 hits simultaneously.
"This album doing what it’s done is so fulfilling to me because I’m just being myself—with bigger hair," Carpenter joked.
Her whirlwind year extended beyond the charts. She opened for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, made her Coachella debut, and launched her first-ever arena tour. She even starred in and produced the Netflix holiday special A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter.
With a European tour kicking off next month, Carpenter shows no signs of slowing down.
